The annual PPS rates starting January 1, 2 002, will be the prior year's rate adjusted for the Medicare Economic Index (MEI, as defined in section 1842(i)(3) of the Social Security Act applicable to primary care services as defined in section 1842(i)(4) of the Social Security Act for that fiscal year).
