Section 17-1739.2-23 - Bed-hold requirements for long-term care A Medicaid recipient's bed may be reserved during a recipient's temporary absence from the long-term care facility if:
(1) The recipient's plan of care provides for absences other than for hospitalization, and is approved by the recipient's attending physician;(2) Any single episode during which a bed is reserved does not exceed a period of three consecutive days, unless a request for prior approval is submitted to the program, reviewed, and approved by its medical consultant;(3) The total number of days a recipient reserves a bed per calendar year does not exceed twelve days; and(4) A record is maintained in the recipient's medical charts which accounts for the number of days and specific dates for any year that a recipient reserved a bed, subject to periodic review by the department's representatives.Haw.
