Section 17-1445-5 - Option B nurse aide recertification(a) Option B is the completion of a total of twenty-four hours of continuing education class Instructions, offered by entities such as, but not limited to, Community Colleges, health-related agencies or organizations, or registered nurses who are-independent contractors, on subject areas relevant to nurse aides employed in state-licensed or state-certified health care settings.(b) At the completion of each continuing education class, the class instructor shall provide the nurse aide with a certificate identifying the title of the class, the class instructors, and certifying the number of instructional class hours provided.(c) The nurse aide shall be responsible for arranging for a registered nurse evaluator to complete the following: (1) Certify that the nurse aide completed, at a minimum, twenty-four continuing education class Instruction hours within the two-year period prior to the expiration of the current nurse aide certification, and that the subject areas in each course of study were relevant to the employment of the nurse aide in state-licensed or state-certified health care settings; and(2) Complete and sign a nurse aide competency evaluation, on a form approved by the department, certifying that the nurse aide has successfully demonstrated competency and proficiency in basic nurse aide skills.(d) To be approved as a department registered nurse evaluator, the registered nurse shall be able to identify to the department a process by which the registered nurse will: (1) Receive requests from nurse aides who require recertification;(2) Evaluate the nurse aide's competency and proficiency in demonstrating basic nurse aide skills; and(3) Document the completion of the evaluation process.[Eff JUL 12 2013] (Auth: HRS §§ 346-14, 346-46) (Imp: HRS§ 457A-8; 42 C.F.R. §§483.75, 483.152, 483.154 )
