Section 16-92-25 - Courses and examination to use diagnostic pharmaceutical agents (DPAs)
(a) All optometrists licensed after January 1, 1987, shall be required to be certified to use DPAs by having taken and passed a pharmacology course given by an optometric school, college, or university accredited by a regional or professional accreditation organization and recognized by the council on post-secondary accreditation or by the United States Office of Education, and having passed the NBEO practical (Patient Care) examination.
(b) An optometrist holding a current and valid license under the laws of another state or jurisdiction, in addition to Hawaii, may be certified to administer DPAs for examination purposes provided the licensee meets the requirements set forth in subsection (a), or is certified to administer DPAs in the other state or jurisdiction, at the time of application.
