Section 16-79-9 - Who may apply for a dental or dental hygiene license(a) A person applying for licensure to practice dentistry shall comply with the following requirements: (1) Be eighteen years of age or more;(2) Pass the National Board Dental Examination;(3) Pass the ADEX dental examination;(4) Be a United States citizen, United States national, permanent resident of the United States, or alien authorized to work in the United States; and(5) Be a graduate from a dental school accredited by CODA.(b) A person applying for licensure to practice dental hygiene shall comply with the following requirements:(1) Be eighteen years of age or more;(2) Pass the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination;(3) Pass a regional dental hygiene examination until a national clinical dental hygiene examination becomes available, pursuant to section 447-1(b) and (c), HRS;(4) Be a United States citizen, United States national, permanent resident of the United States, or alien authorized to work in the United States;(5) Be a graduate from a dental hygiene school accredited by CODA; and(6) Be certified in the administration of intra-oral infiltration local anesthesia and intra-oral block anesthesia from an accredited dental hygiene school or certification program approved by the board.
