The application of the frequency of treatment guidelines set forth in this subchapter shall not be affected when the claimant changes the health care or alternative care provider. If a claimant receives treatments in excess of those specified in the guidelines, regardless of whether the treatments are performed by one health care or alternative care provider or by more than one health care or alternative care provider, the excess treatments may be subject to prior authorization.
