For purposes of section 471-2, HRS, and as used in this chapter, "direct supervision" means the licensed veterinarian shall be in the same immediate building or complex as the unlicensed veterinarian or other employees who are receiving the supervision, except for emergency pet ambulance services in which direct supervision may be rendered via telecommunications or two-way radio by a licensed veterinarian.
