Section 11-147-4 - School health services(a) School health services which are available to regular education students should be available to handicapped students, provided that the limitations as to the amount of time spent by the school nurse and the number of school visits made daily by the school nurse specified in section 11-146-6(c) shall not apply to handicapped students. In addition, the school nurse shall prepare a nursing evaluation for a particular handicapped child when the child is referred to the school nurse by a district.(b) In preparing the nursing evaluation, the school nurse shall assess the health of the handicapped child, identify the kinds of school health services which the handicapped child requires to meet the child's unique needs, and develop, coordinate or provide those school health services which are required to allow the child to benefit from special education. The school nurse shall obtain and review any and all information, including the written results of a physical examination from the student's physician and family, in preparing the nursing evaluation.(c) The school nurse shall furnish a copy of a student's nursing evaluation to the school and attend, or designate a person familiar with the student's school health services needs to attend, all meetings in which school health services may be considered for inclusion as a related service in the student's IEP.[Eff.
