Rule 509-3-.08 - Shotgun Training
(1) Instructors shall train and qualify personnel authorized to carry a shotgun according to a course of fire acceptable to the Board. A minimum passing score of 80% must be achieved on a written exam, demonstrating an appropriate level of knowledge about the safe and competent operation of a shotgun. A minimum passing score of 80% must be achieved on the firing range, proctored by a firearms instructor licensed by the Board. All armed personnel must comply with the requirements of Board Rule 509-4-.01.
(2) Agencies using 12 gauge riot-type shotgun, or other type of shotgun approved by the Board, shall provide training to personnel authorized to carry a shotgun according to the Board-approved curriculum prior to issuance of a weapon. A minimum of two hours of additional classroom training is required in a basic shotgun training program as follows:

(a) History of Shotgun
