Section 64E-5.1418 - Personnel Monitoring(1) Irradiator operators shall wear either a film badge, OSLD or a TLD while operating a panoramic irradiator or while in the area around the pool of an underwater irradiator. The film badge, OSLD, and TLD processor must be accredited by NVLAP for high energy photons in the normal and accident dose ranges. Each film badge, OSLD, and TLD must be assigned to and worn by only one individual. Film badges must be replaced at least monthly and OSLDs and TLDs must be replaced at least quarterly. After replacement, each film badge, OSLD, and TLD must be processed promptly.(2) Other individuals who enter the radiation room of a panoramic irradiator shall wear a dosimeter, which can be a pocket dosimeter. For groups of visitors, only two people are required to wear dosimeters. Date of entry, all names and total dose must be recorded. If pocket dosimeters are used to meet the requirements of this paragraph, a check of their response must be done at least annually.
