Section 64B21-500.009 - Education Requirements for School Psychologists
(1) For the purposes of Section 490.005(2), F.S., a program of study primarily psychological in nature shall be defined as a program in which the majority of courses are in social, behavioral, and psychological sciences.
(2) An equivalent degree shall be defined as a master's or higher degree in a program primarily psychological in nature with coursework totaling sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter hours in areas relevant to school psychology consisting of the following:
(a) Nine (9) semester or twelve (12) quarter hours in Psychological Foundations, consisting of courses from the following concentrations:
1. Human Development
2. Human Learning
3. Psychology of Personality
4. Child or Adolescent Psychology
5. Educational Psychology
6. Human Exceptionality
7. Abnormal Psychology

AND

(b) Six (6) semester or nine (9) quarter hours in Educational Foundations, consisting of courses from the following concentrations:
1. The Role and Function of School Psychologists
2. Curriculum in the Schools
3. Purposes and Organization of Schools
4. Educational Administration
5. Remedial Instruction Techniques
6. Special Education
7. Social Foundations of Education
8. Social Psychology

AND

(c) Nine (9) semester or twelve (12) quarter hours in Psycho-Educational Evaluation Methods to include at least one course in individual intellectual assessment and courses from the following concentrations:
1. Psycho-Educational Assessment
2. Statistics and Research Design
3. Tests and Measurement

AND

(d) Nine (9) semester or twelve (12) quarter hours in Psycho-Educational Interventions, consisting of courses from the following concentrations:
1. Consultation
2. Behavior Modification
3. Counseling and Interviewing Techniques
4. Organization and Administration of Pupil Services
(3) For licensure by examination, applicants must submit evidence of completion of a supervised practicum, an internship, or field experience in a setting which requires counseling and other school psychology skills.
