Current through Reg. 50, No. 253; December 31, 2024
Section 64B2-13.007 - Continuing Education Requirements During Initial Licensure Period
(1)
(a) During the first biennium or within twenty-four (24) months of initial licensure, whichever ends later, practitioners are required to attend one (1) full day at a Florida Board of Chiropractic Medicine meeting at which disciplinary hearings are conducted as provided in paragraph 64B2-13.004(10)(a), F.A.C. In addition to attendance at a Board meeting, practitioners are required to complete a minimum of six (6) hours of record keeping/documentation and coding and two (2) hours in the area of ethics and boundaries, as provided in subsection 64B2-13.004(2), F.A.C.
(b) Through the current licensure renewal biennium which ends March 31, 2022, practitioners may satisfy this requirement by attending a live, synchronous online ("virtual live") board meeting. Beginning with the next renewal biennium, April 1, 2022, the current requirement for live, in-person attendance is restored.
(2) In addition to requirements detailed in paragraph 64B2-13.004(10)(a), F.A.C., each practitioner must certify attendance at a board meeting by:
(a) Pre-registering fourteen (14) calendar days prior to the meeting on the board's website, accessible at https://floridaschiropracticmedicine.gov/register-for-a-board-meeting/;
(b) Arriving at least fifteen (15) minutes before the meeting;
(c) Signing the attendance roster before the start and after adjournment of the meeting, including providing or verifying a current email address;
(d) Receiving a certificate of attendance from the Executive Director of the Board or designee within thirty (30) days following the adjournment of the meeting; and
(e) Uploading the certificate of attendance into the Florida Department of Health's designated continuing education tracking system.
(3) Attendance at the board meeting shall be subject to review, monitoring, and auditing by the board and Department.
(4) Once the practitioner has completed the continuing education hours required by subsection (1) and completed the continuing education courses on HIV/AIDS and Prevention of Medical Errors required by Rule 64B2-13.0045, F.A.C., licensed practitioners shall not be required to complete any other continuing education requirements during the biennium in which they receive initial licensure.
(5) No later than ninety (90) days prior to December 31, 2025, the Board shall review and consider amendment, modification, or repeal of this rule if review determines this rule creates barriers to entry for private business competition, is duplicative, outdated, obsolete, overly burdensome, or imposes excessive costs. Failure by the Board to act in accordance with this provision will result in the expiration of this rule on December 31, 2025.
