Section 6A-6.05282 - College Reach-Out Program(1) Definitions. As used in this rule, the following definitions shall be used: (a) "Low-income educationally disadvantaged student" is a student who meets at least one (1) criterion in subsections (3) and (4) of this rule.(b) "Potential first-generation-in-college student" means: 1. An individual, neither of whose natural or adoptive parent received a baccalaureate degree;2. An individual who, prior to the age of eighteen (18), regularly resided with, and received support from, only one parent and whose supporting parents did not receive a baccalaureate degree; or3. An individual who, prior to the age of eighteen (18), did not regularly reside with, or receive support from, a natural or an adoptive parent.(2) Eligibility criteria for low-income educationally disadvantaged student. In order to be eligible to participate in the College Reach-Out Program (CROP), a student must: (a) Be in grades 6 through 12;(b) Meet one or more of the academic criteria in subsection (3) of this rule; and,(c) Meet one or more of the economic criteria in subsection (4) of this rule.(3) Academic criteria. The academic criteria for the College Reach-Out Program are as follows: (a) The student is a potential first-generation-in-college student;(b) The student's cumulative grade point average at the time the student applies for participation in the program is below 2.5;(c) The student's academic transcript at the time the student applies for participation in the program indicates course grades in English Language Arts (ELA), mathematics, science or social studies at grade "C" or below; or(d) The student has an achievement level below a Level 3 in English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics, on the Florida Standards Assessments (FSA), or on the Algebra I End-of-Course (EOC) Assessment under Section 1008.22, F.S.;(4) Economic criteria. The economic criteria for the College Reach-Out Program are as follows: (a) The student is eligible for free and reduced-price lunches and participates in the school lunch program under the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act [42 U.S.C. § 1758(b)(1)(A)] (b) The student's family receives public assistance and participates in assistance programs, such as Supplemental Security Income or Housing Choice Voucher Program; or(c) The student is currently placed, or during the previous fiscal year was placed, in foster care.Fla.
