Rule 3-5300 - GENERAL PROVISIONS
5300.1

The provisions of this chapter shall establish the procedures for the conduct of all investigations by the Director of Government Ethics (Director) and the Board of Ethics and Government Accountability (Board) pursuant to the authority set forth in the Government Ethics Act of 2011 (Act), Title II of the Board of Ethics and Government Accountability Establishment and Comprehensive Ethics Reform Amendment Act of 2011, effective April 27, 2012 (D.C. Law 19-124; D.C. Official Code §§ 1-1161.01et seq.) (2012 Supp.).

5300.2

Investigations shall be conducted:

(a) Fairly and professionally;
(b) So as to protect the rights and reputations of public employees and officials; and
(c) In accordance with due process.
5300.3

Investigations shall be identified as one (1) of the following:

(a) Preliminary Investigation; or
(b) Formal Investigation.
