Rule 29-5818 - LUMP SUM PAYMENT OR SETTLEMENT5818.1Under the District of Columbia Public Assistance Act of 1982, as amended, a lump sum payment or settlement shall not include a personal injury award, worker's compensation payment or similar award if the payment or award is unavailable to the assistance unit either:
(a) Because it is earmarked and used for the purpose for which it is paid, such as medical expenses; or(b) Because it is an award that is beyond the control of the family such as, but not limited to, irrevocable trust funds, which are provided as compensation for injury or medical disability.D.C.
