Rule 29-2816 - DELAYED REGISTRATION OF MARRIAGE
2816.1

A marriage record may be filed after the time prescribed in D.C. Official Code § 7-215 on the regular marriage record form in the manner stated in this section.

2816.2

To be approved for registration by the Registrar, each delayed marriage record shall be accompanied by the following:

(a) A copy of the license or of the application for license if the license was granted; and
(b) A signed statement from the officiant or the custodian of the official record and a signed statement, sworn to before a notary, from one (1) witness to the wedding ceremony certifying that a marriage ceremony was performed and the date and place of the marriage. In each case, the Registrar may, in his or her discretion, require additional documentary evidence to prove the facts of marriage.
