An applicant shall submit a written application for a barber, cosmetology, or personal grooming facility on a form provided by the Department.
An applicant shall submit and maintain an active email address on a form provided by the Department.
An applicant shall submit an application to DCRA for construction, renovation, or remodeling of a barber, cosmetology, or personal grooming facility at least thirty (30) calendar days before the construction, renovation, or remodeling begins.
An applicant shall submit an application for a license at least thirty (30) calendar days before the date planned for opening the barber, cosmetology, or personal grooming facility or thirty (30) calendar days before the expiration date of the current license for an existing facility.
The Department may renew a license for a barber, cosmetology, or personal grooming facility or may issue a license to a new owner of an existing barber, cosmetology, or personal grooming facility after a properly completed application is submitted, reviewed, and approved, the fees are paid, and an inspection shows that the facility is in compliance with the Clean Hands Before Receiving a License or Permit Act of 1996, effective May 11, 1996 (D.C. Law 11-118; D.C. Official Code § 47-2861et seq.).
A new application shall be filed with the Department within at least thirty (30) calendar days of any change in ownership or location. An applicant shall also notify the Department immediately if the applicant decides not to open, sell, or transfer a barber, cosmetology, or personal grooming facility at the location identified in the application.
The Department shall submit a report of its findings to the applicant within thirty (30) calendar days of the date the completed plans are received.
Plans and specifications that are not approved as submitted shall be corrected to comply with this Subtitle.
A licenses issued under this chapter shall expire two (2) years after the last day of the month in which it is issued.
