Rule 22-B2723 - TRAUMA RESEARCH PROGRAM
2723.1

Level I facilities shall have a trauma research program designed to produce new knowledge applicable to the care of injured trauma patients. This research may be conducted utilizing traditional laboratory and clinical research, reviews of clinical series, and epidemiologic or other studies.

2723.2

A trauma research program shall have an organizational structure that fosters and monitors consistent publication of articles focused on trauma related issues in peer-reviewed journals.

2723.3

A Level I facility shall periodically present research results at local, regional, and national society meetings and conduct ongoing studies approved by local human and animal research review boards. Each Level I facility shall demonstrate research productivity to include at least ten (10) peer-reviewed publications over a three (3) year period. These publications may pertain to any aspect of the trauma program.

2723.4

In Level I facilities, the trauma research program shall have an organized program with a designated director. The research group shall meet on a regular basis and there shall be evidence of productivity identified as proposal review by the Institutional Review Board, presentations at local/regional/national meetings, and publications in peer-reviewed journals.

2723.5

Level II facilities may have a trauma research program.
