A conservation officer may conduct a search and inspection in the following instances:
In the absence of probable cause, an officer may conduct a search or inspection only to prevent the removal, alteration, or destruction of potential evidence of a violation of this chapter.
Before beginning a search or inspection of a person, the officer shall state his or her purpose and inform the person that this chapter authorizes the search or inspection and requires the person to cooperate with the officer.
