Rule 19-1003 - NOTIFICATION OF CHANGES IN OWNERSHIP AND STATUS

1003.1

If the ownership of a registered vessel changes, a new application form, accompanied by the appropriate registration fee, shall be filed with the Harbor Master by the new owner(s), and a new Certificate of Number and Registration shall be issued to the applicant.

1003.2

The identification number assigned to the vessel may be identical to the identification number previously assigned.

1003.3

A person whose name appears as the owner of a vessel on a Certificate of Number shall notify the Harbor Master in writing within fifteen (15) days of the occurrence of any of the following events:

(a) Any change in the person's name or address;

(b) The theft or recovery of the vessel;

(c) The loss or destruction of a valid Certificate of Number;

(d) The transfer of all or part of the person's interest in the vessel, other than the creation of a security interest in the District of Columbia;

(e) The destruction or abandonment of the vessel; or

(f) The documentation of the vessel.
