Rule 12-H903 - AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER SYSTEMS

Strike Section 903.4.2 of the International Fire Code and insert new Section 903.4.2 into the Fire Code in its place to read as follows:

903.4.2

Alarms. An approved audible device, located on the exterior of the building in an approved location, shall be connected to each automatic sprinkler system. Such sprinkler water-flow alarm devices shall be activated by water flow equivalent to the flow of a single sprinkler of the smallest orifice size installed in the system. Where a fire alarm system is installed, actuation of the automatic sprinkler system shall actuate the building fire alarm system.

Exception: An alarm device shall not be required on the exterior of the building when the sprinkler system is monitored by an approved central station, remote supervising station or proprietary supervising station in accordance with NFPA 72.

Strike Section 903.4.4 of the International Fire Code and insert new Section 903.4.4 into the Fire Code in its place to read as follows:

903.4.4

Where a sprinkler system is looped such that more than one control valve must closed to stop flow from that zone, a sign shall be placed at each control valve indicating the locations of the other control valves for that zone.
