Rule 12-A117 - POSTING OF OCCUPANT LOAD AND LIVE LOAD SIGNS

Insert new Section 117 in the Building Code to read as follows:

117.1

Occupant Load. Occupant load signs shall be posted in accordance with Section 1004.3. Rooms or spaces which have multiple use capability shall be posted for the occupant loads of all such uses.

117.1.1

Occupant Load Calculations. The occupant load calculations shall be determined in accordance with Section 1004.

117.2

Installation of Live Load Signs. Where reduced live loads are applied in accordance with the exception to Section 1607.3 in buildings erected before July 1, 1925, all such design live loads shall be conspicuously posted by the owner in that part of each story in which they apply, using durable signs of an approved, legible, permanent design, before issuance of a certificate of occupancy or before approval of a final inspection pursuant to Section 109.3.14. It shall be unlawful to remove or deface such notices.

117.3

Restrictions on Loading. It shall be unlawful to place, or cause or permit to be placed, on any floor or roof of a building, structure or portion thereof, loads greater than permitted by the Construction Codes.
