Section 7-323l-7a - Driver operator
(a)General
(1) A candidate for driver operator certification shall be an active member of a fire department.
(2) A candidate for driver operator certification shall be a certified fire fighter I or shall document in writing that the candidate has been an active member of a fire department since prior to July 1, 1977.
(3) A candidate for driver operator certification shall be legally licensed to drive all emergency vehicles that the candidate is expected to operate.
(4) No person shall be certified to the level of driver operator until all examination requirements of this standard for that level have been fulfilled.
(b)Objectives: The candidate for certification to the level of driver operator shall comply with the performance objectives of NFPA 1002, Standard for Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications.
(c) The commission shall certify as a driver operator any candidate who has satisfactorily demonstrated the ability to meet the requirements as prescribed in this section and the job performance requirements of one or more of the following driver operator specialties as described by NFPA 1002, Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications: Apparatus Equipped with a Fire Pump, Chapter 5; Apparatus Equipped with an Aerial Device, Chapter 6; or Mobile Water Supply Apparatus Chapter 10.
