Section 6 CCR 1007-1-5.15 - Conducting Industrial Radiographic Operations
5.15.1 Whenever radiography is performed at a location other than a permanent radiographic installation, the radiographer must be accompanied by at least one other qualified radiographer or an individual who has at a minimum met the requirements of Appendix 5D. The additional qualified individual shall observe the operations and be capable of providing immediate assistance to prevent unauthorized entry. Radiography may not be performed if only one qualified individual is present.
5.15.2 All radiographic operations must be conducted in a permanent radiographic installation unless otherwise specifically authorized by the Department.
5.15.2.1 Radiographic operations in a permanent radiographic installation shall be conducted by:
(1) A qualified radiographer; or
(2) A radiographer assistant under the direct supervision of a radiographer.
5.15.3 Except when physically impossible, collimators shall be used in industrial radiographic operations that use radiographic exposure devices that allow the source to be moved out of the device.
5.15.4 A licensee or registrant may conduct lay-barge, offshore platform, or underwater radiography only if procedures have been approved by the Department, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, or by another Agreement State.
