Section 14.04 - Persons Eligible for Compensation(1)Persons Eligible. The following persons are eligible for compensation: (a) Victims as defined in 940 CMR 14.03;(b) Dependents and family members of homicide victims;(c) Persons who assume homemaker responsibilities as provided for in 940 CMR 14.06(7)(e);(d) Persons who actually incur burial expenses directly related to the death of a victim in accordance with 940 CMR 14.06(2) or (3);(e) Parent or legal guardian in accordance with 940 CMR 14.06(5);(f) Persons who incur the costs of "Crime Scene Cleanup services" in accordance with 940 CMR 14.06(11); and(g) Persons who incur the costs of "Security Measures" in accordance with 940 CMR 14.06(13).(2)Estates. The estate of a victim is not eligible for compensation.(3)Awards and Compensation Governed. Awards or compensation issued on or after July 1, 2024 shall be governed by 940 CMR 14.00.Amended by Mass Register Issue 1533, eff. 9/30/2024 (EMERGENCY).
