Section 10.30 - Designation of Significant Habitat(1)Purpose. Listed species are frequently restricted in their occurrence to rare, reduced, or specialized habitat types. Consequently, listed species may be jeopardized if their habitat areas are threatened by direct or indirect habitat-altering activities. The types of habitat which presently harbor state listed species are diverse and may include, but are not limited to: coastal plain kettle ponds, sandplain grasslands, limestone wetlands, vernal pools, pitch pine/scrub oak barrens, coastal heathlands, floodplain forests, estuaries, barrier beaches, and marshes with emergent vegetation.(2)Designation Process. The designation of a Significant Habitat shall consist of a review of biological data, a designation proposal, notice and public hearing, a review of the proposed designation, and the Director's finding and designation.
