Section 3.02 - Scope of Practice for a Certified Community Health Worker(1) The scope of practice for a Certified Community Health Worker includes:(a) providing culturally appropriate health education, information and outreach in community-based settings including but not limited to homes, schools, hospitals, clinics, shelters, local businesses and community centers;(b) bridging or culturally mediating between individuals, families, communities and Health and Human Services, including actively building individual and community capacity;(c) assisting community members to access the Health and Human Services they need;(d) providing direct services, including but not limited to informal counseling on access to Health and Human Services, social support, care coordination and health screenings;(e) advocating for individual, family and community needs pertaining to access to Health and Human Services; and(f) additional roles as may be identified by the Board that may emerge in the development of Community Health Worker practice.(2) The scope of practice for Community Health Workers does not include any act or service for which a license or registration issued by a professional licensing board is required.Adopted by Mass Register Issue 1368, eff. 6/29/2018.Amended by Mass Register Issue 1377, eff. 6/29/2018.
