Section 483.11 - Identification and Sign-in Requirements

Visitor processing shall begin 1/2 hour before the start of the scheduled visiting period. Deviations of this time frame must be approved by an Assistant Deputy Commissioner.

(1) Before being admitted to an institution, a visitor shall be required to produce identification which, in the opinion of the admitting officer(s), is adequate. Acceptable identification for adult visitors shall include a current photographic identification, such as a valid state driver's license, a passport, a military identification card or official photographic identification cards originating from any state or federal agency, including government employee identification cards and Immigration and Customs Enforcement documents. Prior to denying a visitor visiting privileges, or in cases in which the visitor's identification is questioned, the admitting officer shall notify the Shift Commander for final determination. Exceptions may be made by the Superintendent or a designee.
(2) The visitor shall be checked for preapproval against the inmate's visitor listing.
