Section 200.100 - Basis and purpose(a)Basis. This part implements section 1128A of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1320a-7a ) (the Act).(b)Purpose. This part- (1) Provides for the imposition of civil money penalties and, as applicable, assessments against persons who have committed an act or omission that violates one or more provisions of this part; and(2) Sets forth the appeal rights of persons subject to a penalty and assessment.
