Section 1180.17 - Vehicles Used in Hauling(a) All vehicles and other means of conveyance used by dead animal haulers for transporting any dead animal shall be leakproof and so constructed of impervious material as to permit thorough cleaning and sanitizing and shall be equipped to mitigate insects and odors and prevent the spread of disease. Every practical precaution shall be taken to prevent the creation of nuisances.(b) All vehicles, trailers, and other equipment that have been used to transport dead animals shall be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected at the end of each day of use. The cleaning procedure shall include the complete removal of any visible fluid, parts or product of dead animals.(c) Vehicles and other means of conveyance used for transporting dead animals shall be completely unloaded, cleaned and disinfected prior to use for any other purpose. Substances permitted for use as disinfectants are: (1) Liquefied phenol (U.S.P. strength 87 percent phenol in the proportion of at least six fluid ounces to one gallon water).(2) Cresylic disinfectant in the proportion of not less than four ounces to one gallon water.(3) Hot water of at least 180 degrees Fahrenheit.(4) Any other disinfectant approved by the Department.(d) Each dead animal hauler shall attach to his application for a license a list describing each vehicle used for the hauling of dead animals and photographs of each vehicle showing front, rear and both sides. The description shall include the make, size, and year manufactured and the license number of each vehicle. The Department shall be notified in writing within ten (10) business days whenever a vehicle is added to or removed from this function. A description of the vehicle added and required photographs shall be included with the notification.Cal. Code Regs. Tit. 3, § 1180.17
