Section 71645 - Emergency Lighting and Power System(a) Auxiliary lighting and power facilities shall be readily available at all times. (1) The emergency lighting and power system shall be maintained in operating condition to provide automatic restoration of power for emergency circuits within ten seconds after normal power failure.(2) Emergency generators shall be tested as follows:(A) Non-diesel generators installed in hospitals shall be tested under load conditions for at least 30 minutes at intervals of not more than 7 days.(B) Diesel backup generators installed in hospitals shall be tested as required by Health and Safety Code, section 41514.1.(b) The licensee shall provide and maintain an emergency electrical system in compliance with Section E702-7 and E702-20, Part 3, Title 24, California Administrative Code. The system shall serve all lighting, signals, alarms and equipment required to permit continued operation of all necessary functions of the hospital for a minimum of 24 hours.(c) The Department may require the licensee to submit a report of evaluation of the emergency electrical systems by a registered electrical engineer to substantiate compliance with Subarticle E702-7, Part 3, Title 24, California Administrative Code. Essential engineering data, including load calculations, assumptions and tests, and where necessary, plans and specifications acceptable to the Department, shall be included in the report.(d) Where alteration of the emergency electrical system is determined to be necessary, the work shall comply with Sections E702-20 and E702-24, Part 3, Title 24, California Administrative Code.(e) A written record of inspection, performance, exercising period and repairs shall be maintained and available.Cal.
