Section 53890.5 - Assignment of a Primary Care Provider(a) If the plan utilizes nonphysician practitioners, members may select, be assigned to, or change such providers in accordance with the provisions of section 53890.(b) In all cases where a nonphysician practitioner is a member's primary care provider, the plan shall ensure that a primary care physician is responsible for the overall coordination of the member's health care, consistent with applicable state and federal laws and regulations.Cal.
