Section 59005 - Direct Care Staff Qualifications(a) A direct care lead staff person must: (1) Have at least one year of prior experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities with challenging behavior service needs, and(2) Become a Registered Behavior Technician within 60 days of initial employment or be a Qualified Behavior Modification Professional.(b) A direct care staff person must: (1) Have at least six months of prior experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities who have challenging behavior service needs, and(2) Become a Registered Behavior Technician within twelve months of initial employment or be a Qualified Behavior Modification Professional.(c) In addition to the training required by Section 59007(a) and (b), the licensee shall ensure that, prior to providing direct consumer care, direct care staff receive hands-on training in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation as specified in Section 59004(c)(1)-(4).(d) Direct care staff shall maintain current certifications in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.(e) First aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation certifications must be renewed annually.(f) The licensee shall maintain the first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation certifications in facility personnel records.Cal.
