The visible device shall be a green or red light. The warning device shall be activated as follows:
(a) On Type 1 school buses manufactured on or after January 1, 1950, and all school buses manufactured on or after April 1, 1977, when the door latch is not in the closed position.(b) On Type 2 buses manufactured on or after July 1, 1970, and prior to April 1, 1977, by opening the door.(c) On all school buses manufactured after January 1, 1993, when the latch mechanism is not fully engaged and securing the door in the closed position. The warning device shall be activated by movement of the latch mechanism and shall activate prior to the latch reaching a position which would allow the door to open.
