Section 1271 - Data Required by Federal Standards(a) In addition to the provisions of this Article, the provisions of Parts 567 and 568, Certification, of Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations applicable at the time of manufacture shall apply to all school buses manufactured after January 1, 1973.(b) Buses, as defined in this subchapter, manufactured on and after April 1, 1977, shall not be used as school buses unless they comply with the provisions of Parts 567 and 568 of Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations in effect at time of manufacture.(c) No vehicle manufactured on or after September 1, 1989, shall be used as a school bus unless the vehicle meets the definition of a school bus or a multipurpose passenger vehicle, as defined in Part 571 of Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations, and unless the vehicle meets all Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards ( 49 CFR Part 571) in effect on the date of manufacture for a school bus of the appropriate gross vehicle weight rating.Cal.
