(a) The regulations in this article implement, interpret and make specific Division 16.6 (commencing with section 38750) of the Vehicle Code, originally added by Statutes of 2012, Chapter 570 (SB 1298), providing for the regulation of autonomous vehicles operated on public roads in California.(b) A motor vehicle shall not be operated in autonomous mode on public roads in California except as permitted under Vehicle Code section 38750 and the regulations in this article.Cal.
