This chapter shall be known as the "Department of Justice Regulations for Unique Serial Number Applications," may be cited as such and is referred to herein as "these regulations." These regulations apply to unserialized firearms or firearm precursor parts made from any material, including wood, metal, resin, or plastic, and made through any process, including those produced by 3D printers.

2. Amendment of chapter heading and section filed 12-28-2018 as an emergency; operative 1-1-2019 (Register 2018, No. 52). A Certificate of Compliance must be transmitted to OAL by 7-1-2019 or emergency language will be repealed by operation of law on the following day.
3. Amendment of chapter heading and section refiled 7-1-2019 as an emergency; operative 7-1-2019 (Register 2019, No. 27). A Certificate of Compliance must be transmitted to OAL by 9-30-2019 or emergency language will be repealed by operation of law on the following day.

6. Amendment of chapter heading, section and NOTE filed 5-31-2023; operative 5-31-2023. Exempt from APA pursuant to Statutes 2022, chapter 76 (AB 1621), section 39, and submitted to OAL for filing and printing only pursuant to Government Code section 11343.8 (Register 2023, No. 22).
