Section R2-5A-405 - Tuition Reimbursement for EducationA. General. A state agency may assist an employee in the pursuit of educational goals by providing tuition reimbursement.B. Procedures. Prior to granting tuition reimbursement, an agency shall establish a policy which shall include the following conditions: 1. The educational program will provide a benefit to the state.2. The employee shall successfully complete the required course work or the educational requirements of the program in order to receive reimbursement.3. Education assistance may not exceed $5,250 per employee in any one calendar year unless approved in advance by the Director.4. An employee who receives education assistance may be required to return all or a portion of the amount received if the employee does not remain employed with the agency for a defined period of time, as specified in the agency's policy.
