Section R18-5-235 - Cross-connection ControlA. Cross-connections between the distribution system of a public water system and the water circulation system of a public or semipublic swimming pool or spa are prohibited.B. Potable water for make-up water purposes may be introduced into a public or semipublic swimming pool or spa in any of the following ways:1. Through an over-the-rim spout with an air-gap of at least twice the diameter of the pipe and not less than 6 inches above the overflow level. If an over-the-rim spout is used, it shall be located so that it does present a tripping hazard. The open end of an over-the-rim spout shall have no sharp edges and shall not protrude more than 2 inches beyond the edge of the swimming pool or spa wall;2. Through a float controlled make-up water feed tank with an air gap of at least 3 inches above the overflow level; or3. Through a submerged inlet that is protected against backsiphonage by at least a pressure vacuum breaker that is installed so that the bottom of the backflow prevention assembly is a minimum of 12 inches above the level of the coping.Ariz.
