Table 1 - Threshold Dimensions

The Department may issue an applicable class of special permit, as provided under Article 2, for transporting on the State Highway System a vehicle, combination of vehicles, or vehicle and load combination exceeding any of the following maximum limits:

An electric powered vehicle or a vehicle with an engine fueled primarily by natural gas may exceed any vehicle weight limit (up to a maximum gross vehicle weight of 82,000 pounds) as provided under 23 U.S.C. 127, by an amount that is equal to the difference between the weight of the vehicle attributable to the electric battery system, or the natural gas tank and fueling system carried by that vehicle, and the weight of a comparable diesel tank and fueling system.
