Section 7 AAC 47.571 - Social security enumeration
(a) An applicant for assistance under AS 47.45.301 - 47.45.309 and 7 AAC 47.547 - 7 AAC 47.599 must
(1) present to the department the applicant's actual social security card or a photocopy of it;
(2) submit a written statement giving the applicant's social security number;
(3) enter the applicant's social security number on the application submitted under 7 AAC 47.555; or
(4) complete a United States Social Security Administration form applying for a number, and comply with all United States Social Security Administration requirements for completion of the form.
(b) The department will use an applicant's or recipient's social security number to verify eligibility, including income, in accordance with 42 U.S.C. 405(c)(2)(C) (sec. 205 of the Social Security Act).
(c) The department will not delay or deny assistance while the United States Social Security Administration processes a social security number application under (a)(4) of this section or while the department verifies a social security number.
(d) If an applicant fails to provide or apply for a social security number, the department will not provide assistance under AS 47.45.301-47.45.309 to that applicant.
