Section 5 AAC 02.520 - Subsistence king crab fishery

In the subsistence taking of king crab

(1) the daily bag and possession limit is six king crab per person, except that in the waters west of the longitude of Scotch Cap Light (166º 44' W. long.) and east of 168º W. long., the daily bag and possession limit is one king crab per person; only male king crab may be taken;

(2) all crab pots used for subsistence fishing and left in saltwater unattended longer than a two-week period shall have all bait and bait containers removed and all doors secured fully open;

(3) crab may be taken only from June 1 through January 31;

(4) only male king crab six and one-half inches or greater in width of shell may be taken or possessed.

At its February 23 - 27, 1993 meeting, the Board of Fisheries readopted 5 AAC 02.520 in its entirety without change, under ch. 1, SSSLA 1992 (the 1992 subsistence law), which repealed and reenacted AS 16.05.258.
