Section 20 AAC 40.550 - People with Alzheimer's disease or related dementia(a) Subject to (b) of this section, people with Alzheimer's disease or related dementia are persons who (1) can be diagnosed using the DSM-5 with delirium, dementia, amnestic, or other cognitive disorders comparable to those listed in AS 47.30.056(g)(1) - (4) or with a comparable disorder using the ICD-10-CM; or(2) as a result of adult onset cognitive impairment that is progressive and degenerative in nature, require (A) supervision and cueing from other individuals in order adequately and routinely to perform activities of daily living; or(B) protection from the consequences of their impaired judgment, of fluctuations in their decision-making capacity, or of their frequent impulsive, inappropriate, or disruptive behavior when this behavior poses health or safety hazards to themselves or to others.(b) In addition to persons described in (a) of this section, people with Alzheimer's disease or related dementia include persons with conditions that support a DSM-5 diagnosis of "other conditions that may be a focus of clinical attention" or a comparable ICD-10-CM diagnosis, even though that condition is not due to a mental disorder described in AS 47.30.056(g)(1) - (4) or (a) of this section.Eff. 10/24/2004, Register 172; am 3/12/2016, Register 217, April 2016Authority:AS 47.30.031
