Section 13 AAC 04.070 - Parking lights
(a) A vehicle must be equipped with one or more lights which, when illuminated, display a white or yellow light visible from a distance of 1000 feet to the front of the vehicle and a red light visible from a distance of 1000 feet to the rear of the vehicle. The light or lights must be located so that at least one light or combination of lights meeting the requirements of this section is installed as near as practicable to the side of the vehicle which is closest to passing traffic.
(b) Parking lights need not be displayed when a vehicle is lawfully parked or stopped along or upon a highway as follows:
(1) on a city street or alley or on a highway within an urban area which is of sufficient width to allow parking without hazard to other vehicular traffic on the roadway;
(2) on a highway outside an urban area when the side of the parked vehicle nearest the roadway is at least eight feet from the roadway; or
(3) on a highway when there is sufficient artificial light to reveal a person or vehicle within a distance of 1000 feet upon the highway.
(4) repealed 6/28/79.
(c) Except as provided in (b) of this section, when a motor vehicle is parked or stopped upon a roadway or adjacent shoulder, whether attended or unattended, during the hours specified in sec. 10 of this chapter, the driver of the vehicle shall illuminate the parking lights, and the headlights, if illuminated, must be dimmed.
(d) Repealed 6/28/79.
(e) No parking light on a vehicle may be used when the vehicle is in motion, unless the parking lights operate in conjunction with the headlights.
