Section 12 AAC 44.380 - Advanced nurse practitioner role and population focus
(a) An advanced practice registered nurse is a licensed independent practitioner who is licensed to practice as a nurse midwife, a clinical nurse specialist, a nurse practitioner, or a certified registered nurse anesthetist, or in more than one role . The individual must be licensed to practice in the role for which the individual has received specialized education.
(b) An advanced practice registered nurse must be licensed to practice in one or more of the following population foci:
(1) family/individual across the lifespan;
(2) adult/gerontology;
(3) neonatal;
(4) pediatric;
(5) women's health/gender related;
(6) psychiatric/mental health.
(c) An advanced practice registered nurse licensed or certified in the following population foci, January 1, 2024 may continue to practice as long as that certification is maintained:

In 2010 the revisor of statutes, acting under AS 01.05.031, renumbered former AS 08.68.410 as AS 08.68.850. As of Register 196 (January 2011), the regulations attorney made a conforming technical revision under AS 44.62.125(b)(6), to the authority citation that follows 12 AAC 44.380, so that the citation to former AS 08.68.410 now refers to the renumbered statute, AS 08.68.850.
