Section 11 AAC 83.820 - DefinitionsUnless the context clearly requires a different meaning, as used in 11 AAC 83.800 - 11 AAC 83.820
(1) "commissioner" means the commissioner of the Department of Natural Resources, State of Alaska;(2) "exploratory well" means a well drilled for the purpose of oil and gas exploration that (A) is located three miles or more from any other well drilled for oil and gas with all distances measured as the horizontal distance between exploration targets, or(B) is within three miles from a well drilled for oil and gas, but tests potential hydrocarbon traps that the commissioner, after analyzing evidence submitted by the lessee and other information, determines constitute a distinctly separate exploration target;(3) "geophysical exploration season" means one year;(4) "geophysical information" means the raw field data and all information necessary to compute, process, and prepare the field data for geological interpretation; for seismic work, this data includes the standard processed sections that are stacked after filtering and correction for statics and normal moveout;(5) "geophysical work" means all geophysical methods used in hydrocarbon exploration and for the determination of geologic hazards, including but not limited to seismic, gravity, magnetic and electromagnetic measurements;(6) "tax" means payments due under AS 43.55 or its successor tax;(7) "actual footage drilled" means the well's measured depth, and may include sidetracking or redrilling necessary to reach the originally proposed bottom-hole location.Eff. 11/9/79, Register 72; am 3/30/84, Register 89Authority:AS 38.05.020
