Section 11 AAC 12.130 - Pets(a) Except as provided in this subsection for a person permitted to occupy a public use cabin under 11 AAC 12.245, a person may not have a dog or other pet in a developed facility of a state park unless the dog or other pet is on a leash not exceeding nine feet in length, and is under control by a person at all times. A person permitted to occupy a public use cabin under 11 AAC 12.245 may have a dog or other pet off a leash within 300 feet of that cabin, if the dog or other pet is under control by that person at all times. The director may require leash control in, or prohibit dogs and other pets from, areas or buildings in a state park for the purposes of controlling noise, public safety, or sanitation.(b) No person may have a dog or other pet that creates excessive noise, a public safety hazard, or unsanitary conditions in a developed facility of a state park.(c) A service dog is exempt from prohibitions against pets in a state park.(d) A state park officer may seize a dog or other pet running at large in a state park and may destroy the dog or other pet if it is mad, vicious, or harassing wildlife.(e) A person may not have a pet in an undeveloped area of a park where leash control is not required unless that pet is under control by that person at all times.Eff. 8/1/68, Register 27; am 1/13/73, Register 44; am 2/3/88, Register 105; am 1/16/2005, Register 173; am 8/19/2009, Register 191Authority:AS 03.55.010
