Section 11 AAC 12.035 - Snowmobiles
(a) A person may operate a snowmobile in an area of a state park that the director has posted as open to the use of snowmobiles.
(b) The director may post all or portions of the state parks listed below as open to use of snowmobiles if the director finds that there is adequate snow depth to protect underlying vegetation and use of snowmobiles does not present a hazard to other park users and park resources:
(1) Big Lake North and South State Recreation Sites;
(2) Birch Lake State Recreation Site;
(3) Blair Lake State Recreation Area;
(4) Blueberry Lake State Recreation Site;
(5) Captain Cook State Recreation Area, within the following areas:
(A) Stormy Lake boat launch access road;
(B) Stormy Lake;
(C) the gas pipeline right of way;
(D) the 50-foot wide corridor area adjacent to the Kenai Spur Highway;
(E) the Cook Inlet beach access road;
(6) Chena Pump State Recreation Site;
(7) Chena River State Recreation Area north of the Chena River, west of the south fork valley, and north of the east fork valley;
(8) Chugach State Park, within the following areas:
(A) the Eklutna Lake Basin from the Eklutna Lake Campground to the wilderness boundary, excluding the Twin Peaks Trail, the Bold Ridge Trail, and the East Fork of the Eklutna drainage;
(B) the designated snowmobile corridor from Peters Creek trailhead and the Peters Creek drainage up valley of the posted sign near the intersection of the snowmobile corridor with Peters Creek and down valley of the wilderness boundary within Section 19, T14N, R2E, Seward Meridian;
(C) Little Peters Creek or Ptarmigan Valley drainage and adjacent land north of Meadow Creek drainage, except for the NW 1/4 of Section 21, T15N, RIW, Seward Meridian;
(D) the Ptarmigan Valley Trail from the Old Glenn Highway to Ptarmigan Valley;
(E) the Eagle River water course and gravel bars downstream of the confluence of Icicle Creek and Eagle River located in Section 25, T13N, RIE, Seward Meridian, excluding the South Fork and Meadow Creek;
(F) the snowmobile corridors from the Eagle River Nature Center, North Fork Eagle River Access Day Use Area, and Eagle River Greenbelt Access Trailhead;
(G) the designated snowmobile corridor from Upper Huffman Trailhead to a point where the corridor intersects a straight line made between the top of False Peak and Flattop Peak, and extending from that point up valley within the South Fork Campbell Creek drainage;
(H) Bird Creek drainage downstream of the traffic control device south of the Quartz Creek ford;
(9) Clam Gulch State Recreation Area;
(10) Clearwater State Recreation Site;
(11) Denali State Park;
(12) Donnelly Creek State Recreation Site;
(13) Eagle Trail State Recreation Site;
(14) Fielding Lake State Recreation Site;
(15) Harding Lake State Recreation Area;
(16) Indian River State Recreation Area;
(17) Johnson Lake State Recreation Area;
(18) Kenai River Special Management Area, within the following areas:
(A) Kenai Lake, from December 1 through April 30 annually; and
(B) Skilak Lake, in accordance with 50 C.F.R. 36.39(i)(4), revised as of October 1, 2020 and adopted by reference;
(19) Lake Aleknagik State Recreation Site;
(20) Lake Louise State Recreation Area;
(21) Lower Chatanika State Recreation Area;
(22) Moon Lake State Recreation Site;
(23) Nancy Lake State Recreation south of the Nancy Lake Parkway;
(24) Quartz Lake State Recreation Area;
(25) Salcha River State Recreation Site;
(26) Tok River State Recreation Site;
(27) Tokositna State Recreation Area;
(28) Upper Chatanika State Recreation Site;
(29) Willow Creek State Recreation Area;
(30) Wood-Tikchik State Park; and
(31) Worthington Glacier State Recreation Site.
