Section 820-2-7-.01 - Applicability Of Alabama Act Number 2005-40, "Alabama Open Meetings Act"

This administrative regulation is to comply with the requirements of Alabama Act Number 2005-40, the Alabama Open Meetings Act, which repeals Section 13A-14-2, Code of Ala. 1975, the Alabama Sunshine Law, and requires the Office of the Secretary of State to post notice of meetings held by governmental bodies with statewide jurisdiction and governmental bodies with less than statewide jurisdiction that elect to post notice through the Office of the Secretary of State. The Alabama Open Meetings Act also requires the issuance of direct notice of meetings by electronic mail to persons and agencies registered with the Office of the Secretary of State and the provision of a computer terminal that is accessible to the general public during regular business hours for the viewing of notices on the Internet website for the Office of the Secretary of State. Copies of the Alabama Open Meetings Act may be obtained on the website www.sos.state.al.us/, without charge, or from the Secretary of State's Office, State Capitol, Room S-105, Montgomery, Alabama 36130.
