The Department of Labor (DOL) has submitted the following public information collection requests (ICRs) to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review and approval in accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (Pub. L. 104-13, 44 U.S.C. Chapter 35). A copy of each ICR, with applicable supporting documentation, may be obtained by contacting the Department of Labor. The OMB is particularly interested in comments which:

  • Evaluate whether the proposed collection of information is necessary for the proper performance of the functions of the agency, including whether the information will have practical utility;
  • Evaluate the accuracy of the agency's estimate of the burden of the proposed collection of information, including the validity of the methodology and assumptions used;
  • Enhance the quality, utility, and clarity of the information to be collected; and
  • Minimize the burden of the collection of information on those who are to respond, including through the use of appropriate automated, electronic, mechanical, or other technological collection techniques or other forms of information technology, e.g., permitting electronic submission of responses.

Description: Data previously collected on the following Job Corps application forms are now being collected from data input screens that electronically transmit data to a Center Information System (CIS). Job Corps has continued to collect application data because it was necessary to the application process that youth receiving training on Job Corps centers be eligible for the benefits provided.

Job Corps has now implemented electronic collection of data during the Job Corps application process and the changes required by the Workforce Investment Act have been incorporated in the collection. We request that the following data used in the application process be extended under OMB 1205-0025:

ETA 652, Job Corps Data Sheet,

ETA 655, Statement from Court or Other Agency, and ETA 682, Child Care Certification.

The automation of these forms will result in a reduction in paperwork burden hours and a streamlined electronic application.

Description: ETA Form 9042a, Petition for Trade Adjustment Assistance, and its Spanish translation, ETA Form 9042a-1, Solicitud De Asistencia Para Ajuste, establish a format that may be used for petitioning for a certification of eligibility to apply for worker adjustment assistance. The form is necessary to ensure an orderly application process and timely processing of petitions in accordance with section 221(a) of Title II, Chapter 2 of the Trade Act of 1974, as amended by the Trade Act of 2002. The ETA 9043a Business Confidential Data Request, ETA 8562a Customer Survey, and ETA 9018 Oil and Gas Drilling and Exploration Oilfield Services are undertaken in accordance with sections 222, 223 and 249 of the Trade Act of 1974, as amended by the Trade Act of 2002, which require the Secretary of Labor to certify groups of workers as eligible to apply for worker trade adjustment assistance.

The Department is requesting to consolidate multiple collections of information under one OMB control number (OMB No. 1205-0342). The collections of information, forms and currently assigned OMB control numbers are listed below:
